2025 Girls Tennis Team

The Rock Ridge Girls Tennis Team made history in 2025, capturing the school’s first ever state championship in tennis and the first team title for the Northland in 36 years. Entering the state tournament as the No. 4 seed, the Wolverines opened with a dominant 7-0 victory over top-seeded Mahtomedi in the semifinals, earning their spot in the championship match at Life Time Bloomington South. In the title game, Rock Ridge defeated Blake 6-1 to secure the Class AA crown, showcasing depth and balance across singles and doubles play.

Rock Ridge’s path to the trophy included standout performances from all parts of the lineup. In singles, players like Ellie Dimberio and Lana Frederick delivered straight-set wins, while Mayme Scott clinched her match in a thrilling super tiebreaker. In doubles, the No. 2 team of Emmi Peterson and Nina Paulsen won in straight sets, and the No. 1 duo of Ayla Troutwine and Mattelyn Seppi rallied from a set down for a big victory. This championship not only marks a milestone in program history, but also honors the legacy of tennis in the region — the last Northland team to win was Virginia High School in 1989, now part of the Rock Ridge system.

2025 Boys Tennis Team

The Rock Ridge Boys Tennis Team capped off an outstanding 2025 season as the Class A state runners-up, marking the best finish in program history. The Wolverines returned to the Minnesota State High School League tournament for the fifth straight year, entering the state finals with an impressive 21-1 overall record and their only loss coming in the championship match. Rock Ridge earned their spot in the title dual with a hard-fought 4-3 semifinal victory over Rochester Lourdes, where strong performances in both singles and doubles propelled the team forward.

In the state championship match at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Rock Ridge faced the dominant St. Paul Academy and Summit School squad. The Wolverines fought with heart but ultimately fell 7-0 to the defending champions, who secured their fourth consecutive Class A title. Although the final didn’t go Rock Ridge’s way, the runner-up finish represents a major milestone for the program and highlights a season of resilience, teamwork, and excellence that will be remembered in school history.
